RAndy's in IPL? REALLY?

Looks like RAndy's has an outside chance to hold a team in the Itaewon Pool League (IPL). The official vote must come at the start of the season, according to IPL rules. However, we staged a mock vote and RAndy's strangely won by the narrowest of margins. Having a team would be great and holding an event like a final or an all-star game will be fun.

Barackandy's

The say Barack Obama is coming to HUFS tomorrow. Hopefully, some of the RAndy's Regulars will convince him to stop in the pub for a game of pool and a pint.

It's quite an exciting time around the school and around the bar. How can you not talk about this? Who would have ever thought the president of the U.S. would come to little ol' 외대?

New Web Address at Facebook

We have had a Facebook Page for a few months now and Facebook allowed us to simplify the address from an unmanageable  http://www.facebook.com/pages/RAndys-Bar/165461960213422 to a very neat and cogent  http://www.facebook.com/randysimun

Please take advantage of this wonderfully new, clean way to get us on Facebook. Thanks.

Nota Bene:
Why don't more of you people use Google Plus?

RAndy's on 10mag.com

RAndy's has a post on 10mag.com now. This site has links to many of Korea's best places.

The Gay Shot

The Gay Shot has become RAndy's Bar most popular shot. It started being made with Vodka, Peach, Butterscotch, and Cranberry, but recently we've started using Crown Royal in place of Vodka, which amps up the taste quite a bit.

They are 5,000 and are usually ordered in bunches. They really get the party started.

I am being kind enough to share the recipe with you.

Gay Shot Recipe #1:

1 Peach
1/2 Butterscotch
1 Vodka (Well Vodka)
2 Parts Cranberry juice

Put ingredients into a shaker and shake well with ice. Strain. (makes 5)

Gay Shot Recipe #2:

1 Peach
1/2 Butterscotch
1 Crown Royal Whiskey
2 Parts Cranberry Juice

Put ingredients in a shaker and shake well with ice. Strain. (makes 5)

RAndy's Mighty Web Presence

I was pretty happy to meet the first guy who came into the bar due to our web presence. He typed in Foreign Bar Seoul into Google and got us straight away. Unfortunately we didn't have the bar's hours anywhere and he got to RAndy's before we were open (sorry, Brandon!). I have added the bar's hours on the sidebar cause of you -- thanks for the tip. Please check if you don't already know. I feel like we may have found our Lonely_boy15 that Guy Kawasaki talks about. Is this the thing that tips us from obscurity to success?

Most Popular Shots

These are the most ordered shots so far in 2012. The Blowjob is up there, but it hasn't been ordered as much lately. Surely something new will hit and take over. In the last 6 months the Gay Shot has eclipsed everything else, and is often ordered in groups of more than six. Long live the Gay Shot.

Have you seen the write-up about RAndy's at Korea Wiki? It is pretty cool and it's editable if you want to add something.

The Cherry Blossom -- "Almost a Masterpiece"

I was drinking with my friend Barney, an Austrian guy who is essentially a mini-cult leader. His cult is comprised of his wife. He has a naturally coercive way with language and people listen to him the way people listened to Hitler or Malcolm X. I was behind the bar testing recipes and he was sitting at the bar in front of our refrigerator on one of the plush maroon bar stools. "Ja, this light from the fridge is too bright." He went on to tell me all the details wrong with the set up of the bar. I was mixing drinks. I was listening, too. The concoction in the glass in front of me was Vodka, a splash of Cherry Brandy, Energy Drink, a splash of Tonic Water, Cranberry Juice, and a drop of Cherry Bitters. I had stumbled on success but neither of us knew it yet. It was just sitting there innocuously, unaware of chaos it would cause multitudes once imbibed. How many tongues it has now loosened, how many blouses it has opened, numbers it has dialed, how many held-in complaints it has unfurled, how many hips it has swayed. I put the glass into Barney's hand. He sipped it while making solid eye contact with me (this was important business we were up to). He put the glass down, "It's almost a masterpiece."

Snooker Nearby

There is a snooker table near RAndy's in Jegi-dong. It is about 10 minutes up the road by bus or subway. So if you want to play snooker you can then come have a beer with us and play pool on our very nice pool table -- one of the best of any bar in Seoul. We have a couple of snooker sticks without tips. If you know how to fix them, or have snooker tips, tell Ralph or Andy and we will get you hooked up.
